Trades for Trades introduces people to each other. We are not a party to any agreement you make, so a few sensible habits go a long way.
Check qualifications, licences and insurance
For regulated work — gas, electrics, roofing, anything structural — you are responsible for checking the other person holds the right registration and insurance before work starts. Ask to see certificates. A trade is still real work with real consequences.
Agree the scope, timing and value in writing
- Write down exactly what each side is providing, and what isn't included.
- Agree who pays for materials, parts or travel — that part isn't a swap.
- Set dates you both accept, and say what happens if plans change.
- Keep the conversation in Trades for Trades messages so there's a record.
Approximate locations only
Public profiles show a general town or city — never an exact address, phone number or email. Share personal details only once you've chatted and you're comfortable, and be wary of anyone pushing you off-platform early.
Report or block anyone who worries you
Every profile has Report and Block controls. Blocking hides someone from your matches; reporting sends the details privately to our team. Please tell us about anyone asking for money, pressuring you, or behaving abusively.
No money, ever
Trades for Trades does not process payments, hold funds or handle disputes about money. Anyone asking you to pay a fee through the platform is not genuine.
